- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
Follow these steps to make Bhuna Chicken:Step 1: Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, add the chicken pieces, ginger paste, garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well until the chicken is coated with the marinade. Cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.Step 2: Roast the Spices
In a frying pan, add cumin seeds and coriander seeds. Roast the spices on low heat until they become fragrant and slightly browned. Remove from heat and let them cool. Once cooled, grind the spices to a fine powder in a spice grinder.Step 3: Fry the Onions
In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onions and green chilies and fry until the onions are golden brown. This should take around 10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the onions from burning.Step 4: Add the Tomatoes
Add the chopped tomatoes to the pot and stir well. Cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes are soft and pulpy.Step 5: Add the Chicken
Add the marinated chicken to the pot and stir well. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the chicken is browned on all sides.Step 6: Add the Spices
Add the roasted spice powder, garam masala powder, and salt to the pot. Stir well to coat the chicken with the spices.Step 7: Cook on Low Heat
Reduce the heat to low and cover the pot with a lid. Let the chicken cook for 30-40 minutes until it is tender and cooked through. Check the chicken occasionally and stir to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pot.Step 8: Garnish and Serve
Once the chicken is cooked, turn off the heat and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot with rice or naan bread.Nutrition
