Introduction
Are you in the mood for a hearty, comforting meal? Look no further than meatballs and pasta! This classic Italian dish is perfect for any occasion, whether it's a family dinner or a cozy night in. It's easy to make, delicious, and nutritious. In this recipe, we'll show you how to make juicy meatballs and perfectly cooked pasta, all in one pot.Ingredients
For the meatballs, you'll need:- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon of dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon of dried basil
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pound of pasta (spaghetti or any other long pasta)
- 1 can (28 ounces) of crushed tomatoes
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, egg, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix everything together until it's well combined. Shape the mixture into small balls, about 1-2 inches in diameter. You should have about 20-25 meatballs.Step 2: Cook the Meatballs
In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook until they're browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the meatballs from the pot and set them aside on a plate.Step 3: Cook the Pasta
In the same pot, add the chopped onion and garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the can of crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together and bring the sauce to a simmer. Add the pasta to the sauce and stir until it's fully coated. Add enough water to cover the pasta, about 4 cups.Step 4: Finish Cooking
Bring the pasta to a boil and then reduce the heat to low. Add the meatballs back into the pot, making sure they're submerged in the sauce. Simmer the pasta and meatballs for about 15-20 minutes, or until the pasta is cooked to your liking and the meatballs are cooked all the way through.Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!
Once the pasta and meatballs are cooked, remove the pot from the heat. Serve the meatballs and pasta hot, garnished with fresh parsley or grated parmesan cheese, if desired.Nutrition
