Mitarashi Dango Recipe

- 1/2 cup of water

- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons of mirin (sweet rice wine)
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon of water
- Skewers or toothpicks (for serving)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dango Dough
In a large mixing bowl, add 1 cup of Mochiko (sweet rice flour) and 1/2 cup of water. Mix well until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too dry, add a little more water. If it is too wet, add a little more Mochiko.Step 2: Form the Dango Balls
Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a small ball. Flatten each ball slightly with your fingers to create a round disc shape.Step 3: Boil the Dango Balls
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the Dango balls to the boiling water and cook for about 3-5 minutes or until they float to the surface. Remove the Dango balls from the water and place them on a plate.Step 4: Prepare the Soy Sauce Glaze
In a small saucepan, add 1/4 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and 2 tablespoons of mirin (sweet rice wine). Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is fully dissolved.Step 5: Coat the Dango Balls with Soy Sauce Glaze
