- 2 teaspoons of mustard seeds
Instructions
Here are the steps to make pickling cucumbers:- Wash the cucumbers thoroughly and slice them into 1/4-inch rounds.
- In a large pot, combine the vinegar, water, pickling salt, and sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat until the salt and sugar dissolve.
- Place the garlic, dill seeds, and mustard seeds in the bottom of a clean quart-sized jar.
- Pack the sliced cucumbers into the jar, leaving about 1 inch of headspace at the top.
- Pour the vinegar mixture over the cucumbers, making sure they are completely covered.
- Put the lid on the jar and give it a good shake to distribute the spices.
- Let the pickles sit at room temperature for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours, refrigerate the pickles. They will be ready to eat in 7 to 10 days.
