Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). 2. Peel the potatoes and slice them as thinly as possible. You can use a mandoline or a sharp knife for this. 3. In a small saucepan, heat the cream, garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper over medium heat until it comes to a simmer. 4. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter. 5. Arrange a layer of potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish, overlapping the slices slightly. 6. Pour a little of the cream mixture over the potatoes. 7. Sprinkle a little of the Gruyere cheese and Parmesan cheese over the cream. 8. Repeat layers of potatoes, cream, and cheese until you've used up all the ingredients. Make sure the top layer is cheese. 9. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. 10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork. 11.
