- 1 tsp salt
- 60g caster sugar
- 7g sachet of fast-action yeast
- 60g unsalted butter, softened
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 250ml lukewarm milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 250g icing sugar
- 2-3 tbsp water
- Food coloring (optional)

Now that you have all the ingredients, let’s start baking! 1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. 2. Add the softened butter, beaten egg, lukewarm milk, and vanilla extract to the bowl. Mix everything together until a dough forms. 3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. 4. Place the dough in a clean, lightly oiled bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Leave it in a warm place for about an hour until it has doubled in size. 5. Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan)/400°F/gas mark 6. 6. Once the dough has risen, knock it back by punching it down and kneading it for a few minutes. 7. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape them into buns. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper, leaving some space between each bun. 8. Cover the buns with a damp cloth and leave them to rise again for about 30 minutes. 9. Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown. 10. While the buns are baking, make the icing. Sift the icing sugar into a bowl and gradually stir in enough water to make a smooth, runny icing. Add food coloring if desired. 11.
