Mutton Curry Recipe

To make mutton curry, you will need the following ingredients:- 1 kg mutton, cut into small pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 4 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger paste
- 1 tablespoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4-5 cloves
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped for garnish
Instructions
Follow these steps to make mutton curry:- Wash the mutton pieces thoroughly and drain off the excess water.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds, bay leaves, cinnamon stick, and cloves.
- When the cumin seeds start to splutter, add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add ginger and garlic paste and sauté for another 1-2 minutes.
- Add the mutton pieces, salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander seeds. Mix well and cook for 5-6 minutes.
- Add tomato puree and green chilies. Mix well and cook for another 5-6 minutes.
- Add 2 cups of water and mix well.
- Cover the pressure cooker with a lid and cook for 20-25 minutes or until the mutton is tender.
- Open the lid and cook the curry on high heat for another 5-6 minutes or until the gravy thickens.
- Finally, add garam masala powder and mix well.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice, naan, or roti.
